Indy Next Up For Byrne Racing
Shullsburg, WI – After a somewhat disappointing weekend at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, N.C. driver David Byrne and his Byrne Racing team are looking forward to a successful trip to Indianapolis this weekend.
Byrne battled 38 other USAC midget teams in Concord on Sunday qualifying 30th. That would be disappointing on most days, however, less than one second separated all 39 cars in the field, so they took that and went to work.
In the second of four heats, Byrne finished third behind Teddy Beach and Jerry Coons Jr. to lock up a spot in the 50-lap feature. In the feature he looked to have a solid top fifteen finish at the very least, but a broken butterfly-shaft just after taking the white flag relegated him to a 17th place finish on the day.
This Saturday Byrne Racing heads to Indianapolis Raceway Park for the 61st “Coca-Cola Night Before The 500” USAC national midget race on the lightning quick .686 mile paved oval in Clermont, Indiana. There David hopes to put his Truck Country Freightliner, Tricor Insurance, Bytec Inc. Stealth/Fontana midget firmly into the field for the 50-lap feature and bring home his first top ten finish of the season.
