David Byrne Ready To Make A Run At 2015 USAC Silver Crown Series Championship
Shullsburg, Wisconsin – 2014 Rich Vogler Classic Winner at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN), David Byrne has big plans for the 2015 racing season. The Shullsburg, Wisconsin driver is embarking on an all-out assault on a title beginning this Friday, May 1st. The USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series starts their new season at the fast 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Toledo Speedway (OH) in the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic.
“Chuy’s (Car Chief, James Sandberg] got the cars all rebuilt and looking pretty racy. We’re really excited about Toledo and competing with the USAC Silver Crown Series this season,” Remarked the 28-year-old driver. “It’s going to be a good season competing with guys like Kody and Tanner Swanson, Jerry Coons Jr., Tracy Hines, Bobby Santos III, A.J. Fike, Aaron Pierce and the rest. They’re all top notch competitors, but so are we.” He smiled.
The 100-lap main honors the memory of 1973 USAC Sprint Car Champion, Rollie Beale who called Toledo home. He passed away in 2014. In addition, the race is part of the Hemelgarn/Super Fitness $25,000 Triple Crown Series which will award a driver that can win all three of the Toledo’s open-wheel races. After the Beale Classic, the USAC Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Winged Sprint Car Series invade the Glass City on Friday, June 12th. Then two weeks later, the USAC King of the Wing Series comes to town on Friday, June 26th. Byrne will attempt to run all three events within the series.
In addition to the USAC Silver Crown Series, Byrne also plans on as many races as the schedule allows in his Winged Sprint Car and compete with the USAC Auto Value Super Sprint Car Series as well as making limited appearances in the USAC King of the Wing Series. “No matter how long the off season, you always run up against the opener. Final touches go on the cars this week and then we plan to swing for the fences this year. Should be an exciting season that’s for sure.” Car Owner and Father, Steve Byrne added.
During the 2014 racing season, Byrne became the USAC Silver Crown Series’ 100th different winner at Lucas Oil Raceway (IN) when he won the J.D. Byrider/Rich Vogler Classic 100 on July 24th. He also raced with the Auto Value Super Sprint Series as well as the King of the Wing Series and even made some appearances in the Must See Xtreme Sprint Car Series during the year.
For the Rollie Beale Classic at Toledo, Byrne’s familiar silver #40 USAC Silver Crown series machine will carry sponsorship support and decals from Stoops Freightliner-A Truck Country Company as well as the family owned business, Bytec Resource Management.
