David Byrne Looks Ahead To 2016 Racing Season With The USAC Silver Crown Series
Shullsburg, Wisconsin – The USAC Silver Crown Series offers a diverse schedule of pavement and dirt tracks ranging from half mile ovals on both surfaces to as big as a mile and a quarter in length. For David Byrne, the 2015 season was a learning experience with several tracks new to the Byrne Racing Team. The 2016 campaign is one where Byrne looks to emerge as a title contender within USAC’s premier tour and perhaps visit victory lane on more than one occasion.
After finishing 10th in the final 2015 USAC Silver Crown Series point’s standings, the 29-year-old will head right back to USAC’s premier tour for the 2016 season and make a run at the title. The quest for the 2016 championship begins on Sunday, April 3rd at Terre Haute Action Track (IN) with the 16th running of the Sumar Classic. Then Toledo Speedway (OH) hosts the first pavement race on Saturday, April 30th for the Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness Rollie Beale Classic.
“I can’t wait for 2016 to get started. We had a fun 2015. I’m getting better on dirt.” Offered the Shullsburg, Wisconsin driver upon reflecting on the past year. “The second place finish at Iowa after bouncing down the front stretch wall on the white flag lap. I really wanted that next win, but heck; three years ago this would have been a dream season. You kind of get spoiled after that first win.”
“You go out there every time knowing you can win and you do the best you can.” Continued Byrne. “I’ll win more; I just need to be patient. In 2016 I’m really excited to run the entire USAC Silver Crown Series schedule and take a shot at the Championship.” He added. In addition to the USAC Silver Crown Series schedule, Byrne will also run in select Winged Sprint Car events throughout the Midwest close to his Wisconsin home.
Car Owner and Father, Steve Byrne added; “Our Team has really come together in the past two years.”Chuy”; James Sandberg, our Car Chief, really has gone to the next level to give David a great car every time on the track. Every detail of the car is checked and re-checked before it leaves the Shop. David has matured so much on the Track, it truly is a joy to watch him race, a little nerve racking at times but nice to be able to give him the equipment that utilizes his talent. 2016 should be fun to see if we can build on the Successes of the last two years. Really looking forward to that next win.”
During the 2015 season within the USAC Silver Crown Series, Byrne recorded one top five with a season high finish of second at Iowa Speedway on June 20th. Overall he collected five top 10 finishes.
