Byrne Looks For First Feature Win At Madison International Saturday

July 16, 2007

Shullsburg, WI – David Byrne looks to contend for his first feature win this weekend at his “home” track in Oregon, WI.  Byrne, who resides in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, will haul his Bytec, Inc./Tricor Insurance Stealth/Fontana midget to the beautiful ½ mile paved Madison International Speedway this Saturday for the Pepsi Open Wheel Extravaganza.

It seems as though David Byrne and his Bytec Inc./Tricor Insurance team have turned some early season mechanical issues around.  He has finished no worse than sixth in a feature event in the past month.

Byrne has raced to two third place finishes the past two weeks, a sixth place finish at Plymouth two and a half weeks ago after starting at the tail, and put together two second place feature finishes on July 4th and July 7th at the Grundy County Speedway.

Byrne, who currently sits second in UMARA National midget points, says that his confidence is riding high going into the Madison event, after the past month. “My crew (Tim Gorman, Russ Mungor and younger brother Pete) have really got my car running good and handling exceptionally well the past few weeks” said Byrne. “I’m really excited about our chances at Madison this weekend.  Being this close to home and in front of a lot of family, friends and sponsors this weekend, would make it all the more exciting if we could pull off a big win here.”

Getting a win over UMARA points leader David Gough or USAC Regional points leader James Robertson, who have absolutely dominated this season, won’t be an easy task on any night.   Whether it happens this weekend at his home track or not, look for Byrne to get his first feature win before seasons end.
